MANATEE COUNTY, FL — As Manatee County Schools starts its search for a new superintendent, the school board is seeking input from employees, parents and the public.
The current superintendent, Cynthia Saunders, will retire in June at the end of the 2022-23 school year.
To find her replacement, school board members are working closely with the Florida School Boards Association and providing a variety of ways to participate in the search, according to a news release from the district.
Feedback about leadership qualities you’d like to see in a new superintendent through a survey at www.manateeschools.net/superintendent.
There, you can fill out a survey produced by the School Board and FSBA about the leadership qualities you want to see in a new superintendent.
Community forums have also been organized at the following locations:
- Palmetto High School Media Center, Feb. 15, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. (principals and district administrators) and 6 to 7 p.m. (general public)
- Southeast High School Media Center, Feb. 21, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. (principals and district administrators) and 6 to 7 p.m. (general public)
- Parrish High School Cafeteria, Feb. 22, 6 to 7 p.m. (general public welcome and virtual option via TEAMS link and phone conference line)
- Braden River High School Media Center, Feb. 23, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. (principals and district administrators) and 6 to 7 p.m. (general public)
Employees are welcome to attend any of the meetings.
“Receiving constructive and supportive input from our parents, teachers, employees and community is an essential part of the process of selecting the next superintendent for our district,” School Board Chair Chad Choate III said. “Your voice and your opinions can make a difference, so please take the time to let us hear from you.”
The final selection of a superintendent will be made in May.
