Four SCF Music program students won scholarship awards and invitations to perform at the solo artist recital in recognition of their outstanding talent in the solo artist competition at the Florida College System Activities Association music symposium at Stetson University in Deland, Florida earlier this year. Thirty-two SCF music students participated in the three-day event featuring more than 200 music students from 14 colleges statewide displaying their musical skills in orchestra, symphonic band, choir, jazz band, and guitar ensemble.

University conductors, faculty, and staff directed and accompanied students in seating placements, rehearsals, performances, masterclasses, workshops, and concerts. Seven SCF students performed in the solo artist competition, including the following four winners:

  • Gavin Barker, Percussion, student of Aaron Nix
  • Caitlyn Healey, Soprano, student of Melodie Dickerson
  • Ashley Callari, Viola, student of Dr. YooBin Lee
  • Tanner Stephens, Jazz Bass, student of Dr. Geoff Neuman
