Sue Ann Lynch Kema, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and teacher, passed away on February 3, 2024, at the age of 80, and is now with her Savior Jesus. She was born on June 9, 1943, in Columbus, Indiana, to the late Harold and Louverne Lynch.
Sue married Tom Kema in Waterbury, Connecticut, in 1968, and they moved to Florida not long after. She held a Master of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Indiana University and dedicated 40 years of her life to teaching in Bradenton, Florida. Even after retiring, Sue continued to serve as a substitute teacher for many years at Tara Elementary School.
A faithful member and elder at Church on the Rock in Palmetto, Florida, Sue extended her kindness beyond the church walls, serving as a volunteer for the Sarasota County Jail ministry.
Sue is survived by her devoted husband: Tom Kema; her son: Tom; her daughter-in-law: Kerri; and her three grandchildren: Kellie, Stephen, and Katie Kema. She was preceded in death by her son: Peter; and her brothers: Donald and Tom Lynch. Sue’s impact reached beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of her nieces, nephews, and countless students and co-workers who were fortunate to have her as their teacher and colleague. In addition to her professional achievements, Sue was a long-standing member of the Florida Beta Tau chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, an international honorary organization for women educators.
A memorial service to celebrate Sue’s life will be held at Church on the Rock, located at 1401 14th Ave W., Palmetto, FL, on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the not-for-profit mission of Tidewell Hospice, whose dedicated workers provided compassionate care to Sue during the last several months of her life.

Sue’s light will forever shine in our hearts, reminding us to live with love, compassion, and kindness, just as she did throughout her life.
